Acrylic Canvas & Upholstery (Sunbrella, Dickson, Outdura, etc)

 

General or Light Cleaning

  • Brush off loose dirt
  • Hose down
  • Prepare cleaning solution of water and mild soap such as Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite.
  • Use a soft bristle brush to clean
  • Allow cleaning solution to soak into fabric
  • Rinse thoroughly
  • Air dry
  • May not require treatment depending on the age of the fabric

 

Heavy Cleaning

 

Follow the same steps for light cleaning but use the following cleaning solution:

  • Eight ounces (1 cup) chlorine bleach
  • 2 ounces (1/4 cup) mild detergent (Dawn)
  • 1 gallon of water
  • Retreat, if necessary.
  • Fabric will need to be treated with 303 Fabric guard.

 

Treating

  • Apply 303 Fabric Guard to clean canvas in a well ventilated space
  • Use a thin, even coat and allow the fabric to dry
  • Apply a second coat and dry.

Note:  May be applied while on a frame but care should be taken to keep overspray from any vinyl products or fiberglass.

 
Clear Vinyl or Isinglass (Strataglass, CrystalClear, etc)

 

Cleaning

  • Rinse with cool water.
  • Wash with soap and water, using a soft mitt. Or cotton cloth. DO NOT USE A BRUSH
  • Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a chamois or clean soft cloths.

 

Treating Strataglass (coated vinyl)

 

Use IMAR Polish at least twice a season to protect from UVs and allow water to bead and slide off.  Polishing also fills in tiny scratches to maintain crystal clarity.

  • Apply with a soft cloth, in small amounts, on a manageable area.
  • Allow to dry, then buff off with a clean dry cloth.

 

Between polishes and after washing the boat, use IMAR cleaner.  Spray lightly on a cloth and briskly wipe both sides of the glass.

 

Treating Un-coated Isinglass

 

IMAR products provide excellent protection to un-coated vinyl.  Other products that provide good results are 303 Aerospace Protectant, and SeaClear.  Follow the directions when applying.

To polish un-coated isinglass use liquid Meguiar’s Cleaner Wax (available at Walmart and auto parts stores) and carefully buff with clean cloths.  Be careful not to get it on the surrounding fabric.

 
Vinyl Tops & Upholstery (Stamoid, Nautolex, etc...)

 

General or Light Cleaning

  • Rinse with cool water.
  • Wash with soap and water, using a soft mitt. For stubborn dirt, use Star Brite Instant Black Streak Remover and use a soft bristle brush .
  • Rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry.

 

Treating

  • Apply 303 Aerospace Protectant or other vinyl protectant product to clean vinyl
  • Spray directly on the vinyl till coated and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
